Do you wear contact lenses?

If you or someone you know is an user of contact lenses, please is VERY IMPORTANT that you NEVER EVER LET YOUR CONTACT LENSES COME IN CONTACT WITH WATER.  (AK – Acanthamoeba Keratitis – is found in lakes, oceans and rivers; as well as domestic tap water, swimming pools, hot tubs, soil and air. )

  • Please always seek medical help if you are in doubt or have questions of your contact lenses and / or condition.

Be proactive and follow the DO's and DON'T​

Wash, rinse and dry your hands before you handle your contact lenses.
Clean, rinse and disinfect your contact lenses with the official solution each time you take them out.
Always empty and rinse the contact lenses case with fresh solution and allow the it to air dry before putting the contact lenses.
Always use the official solutions, eye drops, and cleaners provided for the care of your contact lenses by your doctor / optometrist.
Change your contact lenses cases every 3 months.
Always carry a small container with the official solution and a contact lenses’ case for when you are on the road
Keep track when you need to replace your contact lenses. (Put a reminder in your agenda)
Take your contact lenses out and contact your Doctor if your eye become red, irritated, have pain or your vision changes. Better be safe than sorry.
If you want to wear makeup - Put contact lenses in before applying makeup and take them out before washing off makeup.
let the tip of the solution bottle touch any surface, including your body: this can cause contamination of the solution.
Let water be in direct contact with your contact lenses.
Shower with your contact lenses.
Swim with your contact lenses, if it is a must please you use goggles.
Sleep with your contact lenses, unless you have special ones that allow that. (ask your doctor)
Grab your contact lenses with wet hands (water)
Over use your contact lenses – Wear them as your doctor has recommended.
Use saliva, tap water or any other solution to clean your contact lenses.
Let anyone touch your contact lenses nor wear them.
